Senior Teacher is a New Zealand based eLearning platform based on more than 20 years experience in the education sector including early childhood and adult teaching and learning. Kirstin Prince has been a key writer and developer of the content for the majority of the sessions. The content and resources have then been developed for internet delivery by Punctuate, a specialist web design company.
Our aim is to create a professional learning network that is inspired by teachers, designed by teachers for teachers. Senior Teacher is independent of the Ministry of Education which means that we have total freedom to meet the actual needs of the sector. Senior Teacher is proudly pragmatic and supports the concepts of teachers as leaders, teachers as teachers, teachers as learners, and teachers as researchers.
At Senior Teacher we cater for small and large organisations. A small organisation forms part of our collective community. Large organisations form their own specific community as part of the professional development programme for that organisation.
Senior Teacher is a subscription based service allowing you to effectively manage your professional development budget.
We understand that professional development budgeting is a difficult task in the current climate. Here at Senior Teacher we have thought hard about this and we want to make things easier. In order for us to assist in managing professional development budgets, we offer a subscription based pricing model that balances the load. By spreading the cost of professional development delivery over the course of a year, you remain in full control of your budget and in the process helps you to maintain a low risk investment policy.

At Senior Teacher we have plans to develop specific communities for the primary and secondary education sector. If you are interested in this then please let us know. Your feedback will guide our development. We also have plans for specific industries and professions; again let us know if you are interested.
Our mentoring community is a recent resource with 27 PODs of learning including environment for feedback, using reflective questions, talking about practice, and ways of knowing, doing and being.
Ako – Learning and teaching is our latest resource to be developed. With over 30 PODs of learning including teaching styles, teaching strategies, extending children’s thinking, how to engage with children, preverbal communication, empowering children, social competence, playing as a good friend, working with emotions, quality interactions, quality communicative practices.
Performance management and human relationship communities are being developed. The content is written and is currently being uploaded and filmed.
Senior Teacher is organised in communities of learning. Each community of learning is broken down in to PODs of learning.
Our POD’s are manageable bites of learning that can be achieved in 20-30 minutes.
Currently we have 16 communities of learning with 10-30 PODs for each area of learning. That’s over 160 hours of learning, and we’re constantly adding more PODs.
